Quick and Easy Instructions for the Mini-Hat St. Patrick’s Day Craft
Supplies Needed:
- The free hat template
- Card stock or craft paper
- Scissors
- Glue (stick or squeeze work)
- Optional: Ribbon, glitter, stickers, and other supplies for decorating.
First things first, you’ll need to download the FREE hat template HERE.
Step 1: Print or trace the template on the paper color of your choice. Thick paper works best but almost any paper will work!
Step 2: Cut out each piece. Be sure to cut out the black rectangles because this creates tabs.
Step 3. Cut a thin rectangle slightly longer than the length of the hat out of a color of your choice. Glue it to the larger rectangle. Add your buckle now as well if you’re using one! (Doing this step before rolling makes construction easier.)
Step 4: Swipe glue on the furthest edge of the rectangle. Roll the the rectangle until one side meets the other and press them together until they stay.
Step 5: Bend the tabs inward.
Step 6: Place glue on the tops of the tabs and attach the circles.
Step 7: Last but not least, don’t forget to decorate! We like to use gold ribbon as a buckle and attach shamrocks we created by simply gluing 3 hearts together. Even better, let your students imagination and creativity run wild. I promise you, you’ll end up with hats decorated in the most unpredicable ways.
If you want to wear these hats simply attach a clip or bobby pin to the bottom of the hat! They also make for super cute desk decorations – kids love anything mini, and this St. Patrick’s Day craft certainly fits the bill!
